Building Brighter Futures for Our Youth
The Washington, D.C. Chapter of THE MOLES is deeply committed to building brighter futures for our youth by investing in their education, leadership development, and long-term success. Through our scholarship initiatives, we seek to empower deserving students, ease the financial burden of higher education, and encourage them to pursue their dreams with excellence and purpose.
Our scholarship opportunities include the Washington, D.C. Chapter Scholarship, which provides direct financial support to local students pursuing higher education, as well as two prestigious and competitive national scholarships: the National Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship and the National Celestyne Diggs Porter Scholarship, each awarding $20,000 to an outstanding student selected from applicants across the country.
These scholarship programs reflect THE MOLES’ enduring commitment to academic achievement, community service, leadership, and the advancement of future generations. By supporting students at critical points in their educational journey, we continue our legacy of opening doors, creating opportunities, and helping to shape tomorrow’s leaders.
Information regarding application requirements for the National Celestyne Diggs Porter Scholarship will be posted here during the upcoming Fall/Winter scholarship cycle, so we encourage students, families, and supporters to stay tuned for updates.
We are proud to highlight our current scholarship recipients and recent graduates whose accomplishments exemplify the promise, determination, and excellence that these scholarship programs are designed to support.
Current Washington DC Chapter Scholars
The Washington, D.C. Chapter of The MOLES proudly continues its commitment to supporting graduating high school seniors from the DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area through its four-year college scholarship initiative. The 2025–2026 scholarship recipients, Jordan Fischer and Gabriella Young, are already off to an impressive start in their college journeys.
Jordan Fischer is attending Spelman College, where she completed her first semester with a 4.0 GPA while actively engaging in leadership, community service, and professional development. She aspires to become a lawyer. In a note of appreciation, she shared, "Thank you for believing in me and investing in my future.
Gabriella Young is attending the University of Maryland, College Park, where she earned a remarkable 3.8 GPA in her first semester. She is actively involved in the Charles R. Drew Pre-Health Society and the Women's Surgical Society, while also continuing her commitment to community service. Gabriella's goal is to become a doctor. She shared that "This award contributes to achieving my dream of attending college. We are incredibly proud of our outstanding scholars and remain committed to supporting their continued growth and success throughout their four-year academic journey.
Past Scholarship Recipient
Our most recent scholarship recipient, Arija Martin, graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) in 2025. She continued her education at USC, earning her Master's Degree in Public Relations and Advertising in 2026, graduating summa cum laude. Arija's outstanding academic achievements exemplify the dedication, excellence, and leadership that the Washington, D.C. Chapter of THE MOLES is proud to encourage and support through its scholarship program.
Reflecting on the impact of her scholarship, Arija shared:
"I am beyond grateful for the consistent support from THE MOLES. Your support since I first entered school is not taken for granted, and I truly appreciate the opportunity to reflect on my experiences each semester."
Her words reflect the lasting relationships we build with our scholars and the enduring impact of our investment in their futures. In essence, The MOLES provide more than financial assistance—we offer encouragement, mentorship, and unwavering support as our scholars pursue their educational and professional goals.
